I know that I have written quite a few posts on Asian cuisine or Oriental as they call it here in England. It’s only cos I love it so much!

There is this one dish that I keep having at a restaurant which I was actually put off after my first visit. The restaurant is called Viet Anh and the dish is a traditional one, Bún riêu. Now I’m not vietnamese myself but I have friends who have cooked this dish back at home in Sydney and can I say that it is very comparable. Now I’m not a creature of habit normally but I tend to have this dish each time I dine here and I always leave fully satisfied.

The portion is very generous for 8 pounds. It is almost always nearly overflowing with the tomato broth and is filled with a healthy portion of vermicelli noodles, slices of broiled pork, scatterings of crab and tomato pieces. This is topped off with perfectly cooked “scrambled” eggs, decorated with fried onion, fresh spring onion and coriander. It is also slightly spicy which I love, you can have it without if it’s not your thing.

I mentioned earlier that I was put off by the restaurant at first. This is because I had tried the Special Pho and it was such a disappointment. It was only by my workmate’s persuasion that I had decided to give it another go and I’m glad I did. Mind you, this restaurant doesn’t always have the tastiest dishes around, I’d say they were just decent in fact. I haven’t tried everything because they have a very large menu but I’m only going off what I have tried. But I just had to let you know about this dish.

The decor is ordinary but clean and the service is prompt. On the warmer days, they would open the sliding doors which made the dining experience a little more pleasant.
